Diffused oils alter the structure of molecules that create odors, rather than just masking them. They also increase oxygen availability, produce negative ions, and release natural ozone. Many essential oils are extremely effective for eliminating and destroying airborne germs and bacteria.
A cold-air diffuser is designed to atomize a micro fine mist of essential oils into the air, where they can remain suspended for several hours. Different from aroma lamps or candles, a diffuser disperses essential oils without heating or burning, which can make the oil therapeutically less beneficial and even create toxic compounds. Burned oils can become carcinogenic.
Cold air diffusing some oils may:
1) Reduce bacteria, fungus, mold & unpleasant odors.
2) Relax the body, relieve tension, & clear the mind.
3) Help with weight management.
4) Improve concentration, alertness, & mental clarity.
5) Stimulate neurotransmitters.
6) Stimulate secretion of endorphins.
7) Stimulate growth hormone production and receptivity.
8) Improve the secretion of IgA antibodies that fight candida.
9) Improve digestion.
10) Improve hormonal balance.
11) Relieve headaches.
Start by diffusing the oils 15-30 min. a day. As you become accustomed to the oils & recognize their effects, you may increase the diffusing time to 1-2 hours a day.
Place the diffuser in a high place in the room, so that the oil mist falls & thereby cleans the air as it is falling.
You may use a timer to have better control of how long the diffuser is running. For some respiratory conditions, diffusing the oils the entire night is recommended.
Do not use more than one blend at a time in a diffuser because it will alter the smell & the therapeutic benefit. However, a single oil may be added to a blend.
Always wash the diffuser when changing blends.
If you don’t have a diffuser, add several drops of essential oil to a spray bottle, add 1 cup of purified water & shake. You can use this mist in your car, home, or office.
OTHER WAYS TO DIFFUSE OILS:
1) Add essential oils to cedar chips or make your own potpourri.
2) Put scented cedar chips in closets or drawers.
3) Place any conifer-type essential oil onto each log in a fireplace & as they burn it will produce an evergreen smell. There is no therapeutic benefit to using the essential oils this way, however.
4) Put essential oils on cotton balls and place in car or home air vents.
5) Place a bowl of water with a few drops of essential oil on a wood stove.
6) Dampen a cloth, apply essential oils to it, and place it near the intake duct of your heating & cooling system.
Eucalyptus globulus, Frankincense, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lemongrass,
Orange, & Tea Tree essential oils along with Purification and Thieves blends are excellent for destroying and eliminations airborne germs & bacteria.
HUMIDIFIER AND VAPORIZER:
You may put certain oils in humidifiers or vaporizers. Excellent choices are Peppermint, Lemon, Eucalyptus radiata, Melaleuca alternifolia, and Frankincense.
NOTE: Make sure to test the vaporizer or humidifier first, as some oils may damage the plastic parts of this equipment.
